Jónsi – “Go Do”

This live version is significantly less theatrical than the version for his upcoming album (definitely less theatrical than the music video), but still equally as beautiful.

Mini rant: snooty indie attitudes

I feel like I can actually write something now that I don’t have essays and presentations and language proficiency tests breathing down my neck. So sorry about the lack of writing. It hasn’t been hectic, I’ve just had other things to do. I’m kind of happy I prioritised work over blogging though in a way. Haha. Any normal person would do it the other way ’round. Anyways, yes, most stuff is now in and now all I have to do is sit and wait for my grades, and sit and wait for the exam schedule to update so I [...]

So excited about this

One of the members of an elite list I like to call “the greatest things to have come out of Canada” (together with maple syrup – I said it was elite*), the New Pornographers, are set to release their next (and fifth!) studio album in May. Hoorah!

So they’re released their first single, “Your Hands (Together)”, for free.

The New Pornographers – Your Hands (Together)

* okay, so the list doesn’t consist of just maple syrup and the New Pornographers. Actually it doesn’t exist (hopefully you’ve realised this). BUT if it did it would at LEAST contain [...]

Okiedokie then

Okay, so sorry I haven’t written anything in a while. I’ve been busy with essay/test/general homesickness/being moody. It’s all been really preoccupying really. But hopefully I’ll be okay soon. The test is over and done with. Most of the research for my essay is done now, and I have a while to write it up, all I need to do is check and make sure I’m approaching the question right and what not. General homesickness has been quashed due to having the first proper conversation with my mum in at least three weeks. And I think the moodiness was [...]

Romance is Boring

Romance is Boring is the third album of Los Campesinos!, a seven piece band based in Cardiff. The album follows Now Hold on Youngsters… and We Are Beautiful, We Are Doomed.

The first thing I thought when listening to this album was how my mother would probably only ever describe the music as being “noise”. Which I suppose is an accurate description, though I would mean it in a completely different way than my mother would. As a seven piece band, what you get is a few guitars, drums, a glockenspiel, a couple of keyboards, a [...]

Okay.

So I recently got myself a little radio. Well by that I mean it’s a radio and ipod alarm clock thing. So probably not a little radio. But whatever. Anyways, I’d been listening to Radio 1 so much (actually constantly, I’m not too sure why), I’d forgotten that I liked my taste in music. Haha. I was growing to like what’s in the charts right now. Which isn’t so bad, but I forgot that I’d much rather just sit down, read a book, and listen to the shit I’ve got on my computer. Which incidentally, isn’t shit.

Well, this [...]
