Mini rant: snooty indie attitudes

I feel like I can actually write something now that I don’t have essays and presentations and language proficiency tests breathing down my neck. So sorry about the lack of writing. It hasn’t been hectic, I’ve just had other things to do. I’m kind of happy I prioritised work over blogging though in a way. Haha. Any normal person would do it the other way ’round. Anyways, yes, most stuff is now in and now all I have to do is sit and wait for my grades, and sit and wait for the exam schedule to update so I [...]

Give a Little Listen 3

Sorry this is a day late. My flatmates and I had a halloween party yesterday so much of the day was spent last minute shopping (queues were horrendous!), running errands, decorating, getting into costumes and what not.

The Brent Flood

I saw them live a week or so ago, and they were AMAZING. The music was good, and they were good performers. I am also in love with their lead singer (okay, not really).

Give a Little Listen 1

I’m going to try and do this every saturday.

1. The Silent Years

The Silent Years is absolutely amazing. I went through a faze of only listening to them and I was very content. Their most recent album (The Globe) is definetely the best out of the two albums, and the EP (Stand Still Like a Hummingbird) is definitely worth a listen.

Madame Shocking – The Silent Years (The Globe)

2. Sunset Rubdown

Dragonslayer is actually such a good album and I started listening to it for one reason only: Apollo and The Buffallo [...]

Monsters of Folk

So I’m a big, big, BIG fan of the indie folk revival and today I got my pre-ordered ‘Monsters of Folk’ CD. And I think it’s great (I think I should make it known that I will probably only talk about albums that I love because I will only buy albums that I love… And that I find most things fairly lovable.

Conor Oberst, Mike Mogis, M. Ward, Yim Yames

So the band itself consists of Conor Oberst – himself quite well known, but also his work with Bright Eyes, Mike Mogis – also of Bright Eyes, [...]

Kim recommends: “Aim and Ignite” by fun.

I feel that since I’m not very knowledgeable about music, I can’t really talk about it. So I’m going to try and keep this short and sweet.

This album was actually released a while ago but I only just got it in the mail (the summer is a complicated process of having to wait until I’m in the UK before I can buy anything – okay, not so complicated).

fun. is a new band formed by Nate Ruess of The Format, and features Andrew Dost from Anathallo and Jack Antonoff from [...]
