This is going to be a really fun review to write because Waste Land features a very famous and an amazing contemporary artist, Vik Muniz.
Vik Muniz is a Brazilian artist from Sao Paulo who currently lives and works in New York. His work came to attention on an international scale with his series “Sugar Children” in 1996, portraits of the children of sugar labourers in St. Kitts made out of sugar.

What I really hate about studying art is, when you really like a lecturer, you think she’s interesting and lovely and you’re actually enjoying the course you didn’t think you’d enjoy, and some complete and utter twat sitting behind you says “Ugh, when will she wake up and realises she’s [(the lecturer)] has wasted her life away studying rocks and animals skins”. And all I want to do is turn around a yell “when will you wake up and realise you’re wasting your life away by BEING A DICKHEAD”.

I’ve always wanted to learn how to felt, but haven’t gotten ’round to it. All I know right now is that it involves jabbing at some wool with a needle, and boiling the wool/using your washing machine. I know, my knowledge is very little. But yes, I know it sounds like a bit of a strange aspiration, because all you’re ever going to make is felt. But I’m here to prove you wrong! Here are a couple amazing felt artists that I’ve recently been introduced to. Their work is amazing.
