TESTING, 1…2…3…

I just wanted to see if this works. Here’s a picture of a kitten I saw on the street two days ago, I wanted to bring it home but I think the green plastic bow meant it was already adopted.

More later on animals I want to kidnap from the streets.

Back in HK

Okay well this is me back in Hong Kong now.

Note to self and to others: if you’re going to go over the 15kg check in and carry on limit, don’t fly Spring Airways. Or if you are going to fly Spring, don’t show up at the airport without any cash on the (perhaps naive?) assumption that they’ll take Visa. I mean, who actually uses Visa these days? Surely not high tech fucking airline companies. I was clearly so stupid.

So due to being 15kg overweight (they weighed my carry on which was full of books), I was told [...]

Semester 1 Draws to a Close

So my time in Shanghai is drawing to an end. It doesn’t really feel like it, largely because I should be packing but I’m sitting here writing a long overdue blog entry, and because I didn’t even get my certificate due to some screw up with the system at Fudan University. Apparently I’m signed up to study for another semester even though I never did such a thing. But because of that they are unable to print out my certificate or tell me my grades. So I’m pretty frustrated. No amount of “我明天要回国!” would change a thing, and [...]

Bye bye, China

6 months later, it’s time to say goodbye to both the cat and the mainland. It’s been stressful, boring, filthy, crazy-fun and enlightening, can’t say I’d do it again any time soon. Kim is off to HK this Sunday and I’m to leave a week later. There are still a few museums left to visit but I can safely say I’ve had my fair share of yellow fever.

Never again, slow internet/butt slits/growling men. Though I will always have a place in my heart for Dan’s cafe and how they kicked someone out to give me a table, you just don’t get [...]

In transition

A little travel vlog from the dusty city of Beijing.

Currently in HK and will be back in Shanghai on the 3rd of January next year! HK seems to get increasingly packed with people every time I come back. Trying their best to participate in Christmas merriment my family decided to go to the carolling service at St. John’s Cathedral last night. My sister started crying when the donation bag wasn’t passed to her and my Dad dripped wax all over the seat in front of him (which some poor man later sat in). In all, enjoyable holiday [...]

Flying Home Tonight

Okay, so tonight I’ll be flying back to Hong Kong to renew my Home Return Permit and HKID. I’ve made an appointment at 9am tomorrow at the Hong Kong Immigration Bureau to get a new HKID and as soon as I’ve got my temporary HKID in hand I’m meant to run to the CTS to apply for a new Home Return Permit.

I’m also having trouble deciding what to pack.

Stolen Wallet: The Story Continues

Okay, thankfully Saturdays are full business days in Shanghai. In the morning I decided I would try again at the bank, this time armed with a police report stating that my Home Return Permit was lost, along with my passport. The annoying thing is I know the teller knows and recognises me. But because of his supervisor saying it wasn’t acceptable (she looked like a right bitch), I am unable to cancel my ATM card. I am also unable to withdraw money. And since all my cards were stolen along with the rest of my wallet, I have no money.

Stolen Wallet – Day One

I’m expecting this to be an endless saga, hence the “Day One” in the title. Fingers crossed it doesn’t end up being that stressful but I really doubt it. This is China after all!! Also hopefully this will help any Hong Kong citizens in China who lose their travel documents – I’ve done a bit of research and it already seems like it’ll be a pain.

Okay, so on the bus to class today my wallet got stolen from my bag. I had it when I got on the bus. The bus was pretty crowded. I then walked from the bus stop to class (about 5 minutes), and there were very few people around. During the break in the middle of class I realised my wallet was missing. So I headed home to cancel my credit and bank cards, and to figure out how I was to go about replacing my Hong Kong Identity Card and my Home Return Permit.
