30 Day Photo/ Media Challenge

I’ve seen a lot of 30 day photo challenges on Tumblr so I thought we could try one but with a twist. Our 30 day challenge is composed of novels, short stories and poems, chosen to interpret in any way you’d like. You can choose to just read the title or read the entire book (or maybe you already have!), either way, the point is to attempt to show how you interpret this piece of literature visually. I’ve popped media in there because sometimes a short clip or collage does a better job than a photo.

FURTHER PROOF

That social networking sites are taken far too seriously.

IT HAS TO BE A CROSS. NOT A TICK.

I voted today!

It was a fairly anticlimactic experience though. Might be more exciting if I could stay up to watch the actual results unfold. But alas, I have an exam tomorrow morning so should probably do some prep for that. And get a good night’s sleep.

That should get an award for most boring post ever.

Making up for lost time.

Okay, so here goes. The long awaited actual post which I can do because my hardest exam is now over and I am pleased. I can’t guarantee this will be well written, organised, or actually have much of a point because I’m unbelievably exhausted right now.

I’ve been trying to keep up with what’s been happening with the oil spill off of the coast of Louisiana. I don’t really know if it’s because I generally use British news sources (BBC) or if it was just too soon to start pointing fingers, when I talked about it on our [...]

Hohum.

So I’ve been really busy this week both studying for my history of art exam and watching Jeremy Kyle on tv.

Anne’s been really busy being stuck in Hong Kong.

In a light hearted attempt to distract you from the fact that my last update was around a week ago, an Australian publisher has had to pulp and reprint a cookbook after discovering a typo. The recipe for spelt tagliatelle with sardines and prosciutto called for “salt and black people”.

See it here.

Hong Kong now has Street View!

Now I have something to look at when I want to feel all nostalgic.

Home! (next to the 7-Eleven)

Did not realise I lived next to a "Luteran" Church

Where Anne lives. And where sketchy people hang around.

The imposing building that is school.

It's a school bus!

One of the tallest buildings in Hong Kong. Jeremy Clarkson's metaphor for unnecessary spending. Also, the shopping mall where we hang out.

Round about where an American man asked me if I "worked in the area" which wasn't the greatest thing to happen to [...]

Florence and the Machine have admitted to sampling Gang Gang Dance’s “House Jam” in the song “Rabbit Heart (Raise it Up)” after accusations from GGD’s management last month. They have agreed to pay royalties.

Arcade Fire are to cover “My Body is a Cage” for I’ll Scratch Yours, the compilation album meant to accompany Peter Gabriels’ Scratch My Back

And you can stream the Gorillaz’ upcoming album, Plastic Beach, at NPR.

The Highs and Lows of the Decade

Okay, so every tv channel and radio station seems to be doing countdowns of the best of the decade, so I thought we should try and do one. Instead we’re going to try and sum up the decade really.

Kim writes normally, while Anne’s comments are in italics.

Hopefully you can’t tell I started getting kind of bored by the end/couldn’t really think of much else to say.

ALSO, feel free to not read any of this, but comment and tell us your highs and lows of the decade! We care.
