The Whitest Boy Alive at Tango, Beijing

I didn't take this photograph. Nor did this happen in Beijing. But something very similar did.

All those in HK I suggest you go on see the Whitest Boy Alive on Thursday (17th).

They had quite a few technical problems/synthesizer problems/disagreements with the lighting guy, but it all worked out in the end and they were amazing. Actually the synthesizer not working should have been devastating but Daniel Nentwig is an amazing keyboardist, and I don’t think it detracted from the show in any way.

I also didn't take this photograph of Erlend Øye, and I'm going [...]

So Beautiful

kiss each other clean

Though to be honest I think my favourite song from the album, Kiss Each Other Clean, is “Walking Far From Home”.

(also, I love La Blogotheque with a passion, their videos are absolutely stunning)

Just a Heads Up

Just a heads up in case you’ll be in HK, MGMT are performing at Star Hall at KITEC (formally HITEC) in Kowloon Bay on the 30th March. I have the sinking suspicion they’ll be sold out because everyone hopes they play “kids”.

What’s absolutely amazing is that the support is going to be French Horn Rebellion.

This Moment- French Horn Rebellion from Harry Fellows on Vimeo.

And it’s really rare that HK get two great acts. You can get your tickets at www.hkticketing.com or any of the HK Ticketing Outlets.

ALSO actually the Whitest Boy Alive is performing [...]

frustrated

I’m getting incredibly frustrated with Apple right now. Don’t get me wrong, I love my macbook, and the launch of the app store has meant I was able to get iWork without having to pay an extortionate amount at one of the mac-oriented stores here (since we still don’t have our own Apple store this means a considerable mark up in price).

Now because my wallet got stolen and I need to reissue by UK debit card I had to change the address listed with the bank to my HK address (so they could send me the new card… [...]

Tu Zi Nian

I’ve been slow with new years resolutions, so I’ll make the resolutions according to the Chinese calendar.

1) No carbs chocolate more stupid resolutions.

I went to Chris’ house for CNY dinner last night, the email his mom sent out contained details for the dress code “red or Chinese traditional”. Panic. Look in the wardrobe, everything is either a hideous shade of maroon or is a full on cheung sam which I’ve only worn twice because it’s so ridiculously over the top.  Settle for the knitted Shanghai Tang top that was bought 2 years ago and is now tiny on me. [...]

Lovefool

Since I am currently blessed with a fast internet speed and free access to youtube:

I mean the one thing I really don’t like about the cover is that the gender has been changed to female. I know it’s only in the first verse but to me that’s a completely unnecessary change. That always frustrates me about covers. It’s so trivial.

But, anyways, it’s a good cover. And it makes you appreciate the original. And it’s intensely late-90′s nautical music video. And Nina Persson’s super enhanced blue eyes. [...]

Hohum

You can tell I’m mindnumbling bored when this consumes my life:

I’m pretty much just counting down the days until I get to see my mother though (3!), so watching hour long episodes of complete and utter crap (Season 10!) helps pass the time. (omg, one of the detectives just referenced two girls-one cup).

Also watched the Australian Grand Prix. First time actually watching anything to do with the F1 bar my father going mental about it and me having to watch him pretend to drive and make car noises when I was younger. And so [...]

Jónsi – “Go Do”

This live version is significantly less theatrical than the version for his upcoming album (definitely less theatrical than the music video), but still equally as beautiful.

Lil’ Freak – Usher (feat. Nicki Minaj)

I’ve had a lot of trouble thinking of what to say. I can’t really say my life has been preoccupied with university stuff since the only thing I had in for this week was a review of The Gate of Heavenly Peace. I can’t even write about that though, because I did write my entire review without watching the actual documentary (I did read the transcript though, and other reviews, but we’re still going to have to see how that turns out).

This semester has been a bit different in that I’ve attempted to cut down on my spending [...]
